Research and Planning: Contents #2 + Flatplans
I want to start my magazine with a short editor’s letter, which, shortly, is a note from the editor that communicates to the audience about what the magazine is about. For my editor’s letter, my main goal is to be relatable because I want my audience to believe that they also have the power to change how the world works and to answer this question: Why is the magazine and its contents important? I also used this article to come up with titles for each section and article titles. Title: Editor’s note Draft: Dear readers, I often find myself daydreaming about my future and how glamorous and wonderful it will…

Research and Planning: Contents #1
Before I move on to the table of contents, I need to think about the contents and the type of magazines I want to write. Then mention popular fashion icons, like models, or designers, etc, and celebrities to influence the audience. Then…

Planning: Masthead + Issue name
With my original idea, I thought the name ‘Marmoris’ would be perfect. However, after profiling my target audience and rethinking my idea for my magazine, I thought that this name doesn’t fit. So I did some more research on how popular fashion magazines got their name. Many fashion magazines (such as Vogue or Elle) got their names from French translations. I also considered French words or phrases that would suit my magazine, and one that came to mind was ‘c’est la vie’ (that’s life). Here are some designs that I made with this phrase in canva: One downside to this phrase is that it doesn’t exactly match the content I…

Planning: Improved Idea + Moodboard & Genre
I decided to improve my idea after I identified who my target audience is, and also make some changes after more consideration. Something I want to change is the overall vibe of my magazine. Although I would love for it to be summery, because all the photoshoots will be during winter, I need to think of another theme. So I decided to go with finding warmth in winter. I feel like most photoshoots done in winter is always cool-toned and feels cold and lonely, and I want to try to use natural light and warm colours to create warmth during the cold. The obvious thing that needs change is some…
