Flat plans

Front page

I decided to illustrate my first page and since this magazine is about clothes I decided to make the front cover exactly that. The clothes will be “floating” on hangers in a dark contrast background, the only lights on the set being above the clothes (outfits). The title of the magazine “Kalopsia” will be placed diagonally on the page almost from one corner to the other. In the right upper corner I will have a small text and on the right lower corner the barcode and date.

After a little doom-scrolling on PANTONE https://www.pantone.com/eu/en/, I decided to make my masthead “Egg White” since it will stand out in the dark background. For the photoshoot of this front cover the location will most likely be a studio since I need a big black canvas to work on. The clothes will vary from one style to the other but I’m hoping to use dangly garments and accessories.

Table of content

For the table of content, I did a really quick sketch just for a visual idea. The text will be pretty wide, spreading across two pages. Above the title I will have some pictures the same number as the articles each one representing one article, I want to edit them in order to give the vibe of instant camera photos that look sort of hanged to the magazine. Each article will be displayed with the page number and maybe if I have enough space a small text about it. The background this time will be “Egg White” while the text will be black except for the “table of” which will be “Classic Blue”.

Content pages

For my content page I looked at some inspiration on Pinterest and on Safari at other magazines. This is what I came with so far, I decided to make my flat plans a little more detailed for me to be able to visualise my final products better. I also illustrated some of the actual photography I want in my magazine. I really enjoy the format of it however I might need to add some more space for text.

Back cover

For the back cover I decided to make something similar with the front cover, such as a book cover. The back will feature the same hangers we have seen on the front cover, same background and lightning. However this time the clothes aren’t on the hanger, they are seen as a big pile on the floor. They now look lifeless compared to how they are perceived on the cover page. In the bottom right corner I will add the contact info: “www.kalopsiamagazine.com”
