AS Critical Creative Reflection

Question 1:

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

These are the conventions of a magazine.

Conventions i challenged: The conventions that I used:

  • Issue date
  • Model credit
  • Bylines
  • Caption for images
  • Body text
  • Name of the magazine
  • Page numbers
  • Main image
  • Editors letter
  • Colour scheme
  • Barcode
  • Pullqoutes
  • Headlines
  • Subhead
  • Body text

I didn’t have bylines and caption for images since i wanted it to stay minimalist and let everyone focus on the pictures more than the writing.

My model credit for my front cover was not given but i did ad acmpaign their magazine so i think that was better than just credit if given.

I put body text in both since in two pages i did have body text but in the rest i do not.

My magazine reaches for all social groups since i tried to make it more raw and authentic and for my pictures to tell a story. I tried showing the inter looks of the human growth and how we are all connected on this earth, to each other, to nature and ourselves. This gets into the issues, in anything it is political and i thunk the issues i touch on are also somewhat political since i want my audience to realise that everything in the end is connected, especially with the pull quotes i used being ‘different forms, same spirit’ and ‘nature doesn’t end where humans begin’ what i wanted to showcase is that nature shouldnt be ruined and humans and animals should co exist naturally and easily.
