Front cover:
I created some layouts so I can see what would look the most appealing to the eye, and did a bit of brainstorming of the big image for the magazine. The target audience for my article are women, so the front cover will feature a woman as well. The masthead will take up the upper third of the cover and I’m thinking of integrating it with the model as well, so they’re not separated. An example of how this could work is by placing the masthead slightly behind the woman’s head.
The location for this photoshoot will be outside, so the cover will have nature in the background, such as colourful flowers. Although I am not exactly sure of what this main image will look like, it will be decided during the planning of the photoshoot and the photoshoot itself.
In addition to this there will be an issue no. which is Spring 2026, above the masthead, and possibly a barcode placed vertically on the bottom left corner.
Table of contents:
For the table of contents I made some sketches on paper, to make the page more engaging I thought of putting a big main image and then the title vertically along its side, with the upper half of the letters over the image. They’re very simple sketches, but they help me create a picture in my mind, so I don’t need details for that. The other idea that I have is putting more photos, one for each article, which are also featured in the article itself. For this type of table of contents, the layout will be more random, as in not horizontally or vertically aligned, but still carefully arranged.
The page won’t be called table of contents, instead it will either be just “contents”.
Featured article:
I looked on Google and Pinterest to get some inspiration for the layouts of a magazine, from which I took certain aspects and sketched my own idea. The idea is that the article will have big main photos on each page, and the design will be colour coordinated, with an outfit of a certain colour, and representative text spread on two pages. This way the transition between colours will be less sudden.
The featured article will contain 6 or 8 pages, each pair of pages with a certain colour, so there will be four outfits of different colours. I will be doing the photoshoot with 4 outfits and later will decide if I want to take one out or use all 4.
Back cover:
The back cover will be simple, with only a main image and contact information at the bottom, centered on the page, and a short quote. This way it will look clean and complete.
