Budget
List of costs for photoshoot:
- Props
- Daffodils – 20lei
- Yellow top – borrowed
- Food – 60lei
- Transport – my mom took us and we took a bus back
Total: $20
These costs were low as most of the work was done by myself, my model was my friend and I could use the school’s forum without paying rent. However, these would be the normal costs in order to complete a whole magazine:
First of all, I read that magazines are encouraged to have a number of pages divisible by 4, due to the production process of saddle stitching in which pages are assembled as 4-page folded sections. If the number of pages isn’t divisible by 4 it will leave black pages at the end of the magazine, so beside meeting the requirements and not leaving extra white pages, it will also be cost-efficient. Knowing this, the total number of pages will be 80. As a test run, I will print and distribute 200 copies, which is a good number to start with and see what the demand is. With more time, as the magazine is known by a larger audience, more copies will be distributed. At first, it will be kept as a local magazine, only distributed in Romanian cities such as Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, Sibiu and Bucuresti (the capital). I used this website to help me with organising the costs for the entire magazine.
The initial plan was to do both photoshoots in the last week of March (28th-29th), one on Saturday and one on Sunday. However, the weather was really rainy and dark and we couldn’t do the one outside, so ultimately I decided to do the 2nd photoshoot, which would happen inside, and wait another week for the 1st one in hopes that the weather would warm up, (the plan was on the 4th, but the weather was not the best again and I risked it on the 5th, fortunately that day it was sunny). After talking with the girls we decided on Saturday morning, at 11am for the feature article photoshoot. The magazine template would already be done by the time the second photoshoot is taken, so after the photos I will need to select a few, edit them, and just add them in the right frames in the magazine.
