Being part of a large-scale TV show production gave me valuable insight on the media production process and the media industry. Overall I can say I left with lots of ideas on how to make our film opening the best we can possibly make it, as well as excitement, both for seeing myself on national television and for my performance in the next round, which will be filming sometime in late April/early May. Until then, I’m waiting patiently for my episode to air, rehearsing a new song, designing a new outfit, and of course, making significant progress in my research and planning for the final film opening task. I could dwell on all the small mistakes I’ve made, but I’m the type of person that favours looking towards how I can improve in the future, as you can’t change the past.
The most interesting part to me was seeing just how many cameras and angles need to be captured at the same time in order to create an immersive, attention-grabbing experience. At my short internship at Numa Film in June 2024, I was part of a small-scale production, where there was the bare minimum amount of equipment used. Comparing these 2 experiences, seeing both sides of film production gives me a better understanding of the media industry. One part I wished I could participate in was the editing process. While others see it as a boring experience of painstakingly going through hours and hours of footage, I adore editing films, and the thought of having so many angles, so many clips to choose from to make sure I am building the best possible representation of the moment is very enticing. It definitely inspired me to add filming additional, ‘filler’ clips of Nemor to the to-do list. When we film it, I would like to have as many angles as possible to create a multidimensional viewing experience.
In conclusion, it was a both fun and educational experience, and I can’t wait to go back on set!
