Characters

Creating compelling characters is essential to making our film opening engaging and believable. Each character must be visually distinct with clear motivations and a presence that fits the film’s psychological horror theme. Below, I break down the main characters and their roles followed by the actors portraying them.  

1.BEN

Role in the movie:Protagonist

A quiet, withdrawn teen who experiences terrifying hallucinations after getting hit in the head during gym class.  

Appearance & Costume: 

Ben wears a gray athletic shorts and a loose T-shirt. His outfit is simple and practical reinforcing  his skinny  status and lack of desire to stand out. As the film progresses his face expression changes and a paler complexion will emphasize his increasing anxiety and fear.  

Actor: Mihai Blaga

Why did i choose this actor?

I chose Mihai because he naturally embodied Ben’s introverted and awkward manner. His ability to express emotions subtle through nervous glances, nervous body language and expression will help express  Ben’s internal struggle without excessive dialogue.  

Suitability for the Genre & Audience:

Ben is a relatable protagonist and familiar to the thriller watchers as usually the main character in this subgenre is more introverted and secluded making his supernatural experiences even more unsettling. Mihai  can effectively portray the paranoia and fear that our target audience will connect with.  

 

2. Phantom Girl

Role in the Film: The mysterious ghostly presence haunting Ben

Appearance & Costume: 

She wears an old and tattered and ragged uniform. Her long, damp dark brown hair clings to her pale face, her large dark eyes staring unnervingly. Her costume’s worn-out appearance  reinforces the eerie atmosphere.  

Actor: Ana

Why did i chose her  This Actor?  

Ana has a naturally haunting presence with striking features and an ability to hold an intense stare. Her control over body language adds to the character’s uncanny aura.  

Suitability for the Genre & Audience:

Phantom Girl’s presence plays into classic horror stereotype. The audience who might be familiar with psychological horrors will recognize the visual cues while still being unsettled by the subtle horror elements I introduced through her performance.  

3.Barry

Role in the Film: Ben’s teammate and the comic relief who is unaware of the supernatural events unfolding around him.  

Appearance & Costume:

Barry wears a gym uniform as Ben but in a slightly more put together manner his shirt is better fitting and his sneakers are worn but clean. This suggests he takes sports seriously and contrasts with Ben’s more disheveled look.  

Actor:Matei Grigorovici

Why This Actor?  

Matei has great comedic timing and a natural sarcasm making him the perfect choice for Barry. His ability to shift between humor, mokery, and concern for Ben’s odd behavior adds realism to their interactions.  

Suitability for the Genre & Audience: 

Barry’s presence grounds the story which provides moments of before the horror escalates. This balance keeps the audience engaged while making the supernatural events feel even more unusual when they occur.  

By carefully selecting these actors and crafting distinct looks for each character, our film opening will feel immersive, believable, and gripping. These performances will enhance the psychological horror elements, ensuring a strong connection with our audience.
