As we finally came to finalising our film, we are officially fully prepared to release it to a wider audience. We thought that before doing this we would start by showing it to our friends and family in order to get constructive feedback, positive and negative. Since our project is finalised we will use any of this feedback for our next projects.
We started by considering our options for collecting feedback, and we ended up choosing to do a Google form which will be shared individually with each of our chosen viewers. Stela took the responsibility to finalise the actual document while we suggested questions and format options. After group discussion and other film feedback form research we decided that our forum should include pretty specific questions regarding some of our concerts for the film and considering the key points of the film opening.
We selected the following questions:
- Rate the film opening 1-10(bad-great)
- Would you want to watch the full film that our film opening introduces? Why/Why not?
- What genre do you think the film opening is, based on what you saw?
- Did any part of the film opening confuse you? If yes, which one?
- Do you find the film opening engaging? Why/Why not?
- What could be improved?
All of these questions were specifically designed for our film opening and all of them are concise and specific so our respondents would not feel that it is time consuming.
Feedback collected
After about 2 days we decided to take a look at our responses. Of course we are going to be taking all of this feedback with caution and not let any of the negative feedback emotionally affect us but rather taking them as a form of growth of our personal and technical skills.
Question number 1:

This bar chart confirms that our film was rated highly with an average of 10/10 however, all of these people are our friends so the answers might not be as valid as if we would’ve shared them with strangers. These nevertheless were a great confirmation of the effort and time we put into this project and made us incredibly proud for others to have the same opinion as us.
Question number 2:

Naturally, people love cliffhangers. This was done purposefully in order to engage our audiences from the start. The romance of the film and cinematography was also highly enjoyed and praised.
Question number 3:

For this question we came to the conclusion that the movie was found confusing in 50% of cases. However this was again expected since it was done on purpose. If we would produce a full film this is the exact response we would like for the first 2 minutes of the film.
Question nr 4

We were so happy with the responses for this question since it was mostly positive feedback. Me and Stela were also very proud of the comments about the music choice since the song we used in the last scene is one of our all time favourites.
Question nr 5:

For this question we were a bit concerned about the answers. 30% of people considered this to be a drama which raised some questions about our use of psychological horror genre conventions. We discussed and decided that for any future projects we would pay more attention to small details to try and push furthermore our chosen genre.
Question nr 6:

Here we were not surprised to see that a lot of people found the film a bit confusing. However this is our intention from the start. Our film had little to no dialogue and the dialogue is not even relevant to the story, which clearly leaves a lot of the scenes up for interpretations. Nevertheless in the future we would be a bit more clear with our storytelling and narrative and try to make our visions more visually clear such as a bit more dialogue or a different colouring for some scenes.
Last question:

For this question we were prepared for some negative feedback and we got, to our surprise, a lot of similar answers. One common feedback was the fact that the sound is a bit harsh. Even though this was our intention, the sound is a bit harsh and we could have maybe turned the volume down or maybe volume it down a bit.
The next 2 comments were completely different in nature.

Firstly, adding more action, in our opinion, would have changed the atmosphere and artistic vibe of this film opening. It would have been a bit more focused on gore and violence instead of emotion and regret which we would have not personally liked as much as our final version.
Overall I believe that the feedback we received from our friends and family will really push us to improve some aspects that we didn’t think of while producing the film. Additionally it was amazing to get praised and affirmed on our effort and time put into our film opening. Finally I will see you in my last blog post from this section. In the meantime, get ready to view the final version of our film opening!
