I gave the table of content a huge thought since this means i have to begin setting chapters and topics for my magazine. I believe Kalopsia is the tendency to romanticise what isn’t real or what isn’t there, perhaps finding beauty in distortion. A lot of the topics\/photography\/text will reflect my views and thoughts on Kalopsia, therefore I came with the idea for the first article:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Through the lens of my eyes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This will be an opening note similar to an “editor’s letter”, where I will talk about my views on experimental fashion photography, explain my vision for the magazine and about how beauty is defined as a construction therefore it isn’t stable. Due to media influence beauty is no longer self-thought but is inherited by the usage of repeated patterns\/trends such as luxury logos, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-The act of looking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I will start the magazine’s first photography article by doing unfamiliar photography, the idea that more you look the weirder it gets or trippy. This highlights the idea that photography should be observed rather than just looked at as they become unfamiliar when they are examined beyond their intended duration. I want to show that perfection is less interesting than illusion. I will achieve this by using mixed media, some of my inspiration came from the work of “Jeff Lee Johnson”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Dressing the shadow<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This chapter will consist of shadow play featuring recent trends\/fashion garments such for example lace. I choose to use shadows as an element in fashion. Each shadow creates complex shapes that highlights designs even further. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-When fabric forgets the body<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The photography in this article will be of floating clothing and individual clothes with rarely any models involved, this will suggest the empowerment of clothes, rather than the idea that I don’t see clothes as objects meant to dress a body but rather as shapes, individuals searching for presence. With this I allow the garments to exist on its own terms, unaltered by expectations. For example, have you ever liked a clothing piece a lot but not the way it looks on your body? Then it “ruins it”. People stop seeing the beauty in one piece just because of expectations, I intend to prove that wrong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Where reality starts to blur<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This chapter will focus mainly on makeup\/faces or distorted garments by the use of blurring, light etc. I intend to make the photos look unnatural and unreal with crazy makeup and editing. I plan on using reusable elements such as plastic wraps, paper, bottles, etc. for these certain blurred effects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I want my magazine to create meaning and truly have an impact on the reader, this article will actually be related to political issues such as the situation in muslim countries (ex: Iran, Afghanistan, etc.). It will talk about how society distort and hide women’s bodies through clothing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Visionaries in Distortion <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Short essays from designers on distortion, illusion, or discomfort.
