For the table of content I started by writing down everything that will appear on these pages, meaning the name of the articles, the categories they fall under and the page numbers. Then I had to edit the text the way I wanted it to be and aligning it perfectly to the page proportions. Then I made the masthead “INSIDE” big and rotated 90 anticlockwise.
This was easy to make since I had everything ready and all I needed to do was just take a few decisions regarding the design of the pages.
Something that I did before was first creating a mock version to see how everything would look on a two-page spread before finalising and uploading it in a single-page format. I also made more variations to choose from at the end.
After that, I added the picture in the middle under the text, leaving a significant empty frame. I tried more photos in order to see which one I like the most:
