There are a few things to consider when planning a photoshoot, especially one with such importance. Honestly, I’m struggling to find a good place to start. But here I am, starting… in a place. Location research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The photo location can very effectively set the mood for the entire Digipak, and since we are considering potentially using a photo for the cover of the upcoming album release this place must match the concept. The album title is “Death is a City”. What screams death and city more than an abandoned building?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I asked around for abandoned locations. Nothing too forest-y, nothing too “mainstream”. I was told about a few places, houses in the middle of the city, all too boring for me. I was going to check them out, until I got a tip from my mother’s friend. Hidden by the tracks near the warehouses and factories on the city outskirts, abandoned train carriages. This is huge, as one of the new demos we are working on now that will be on the album is about a train. Naturally there are no google images of the location, and while it is pretty far away I fear I have no choice but to go there myself and determine whether it is a suitable location for the shoot or not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The snow is too heavy to drive on the country roads that lead to the supposed coordinates of the location. I fear it would be too complicated to carry out the photoshoot at this place, as cool as it sounds… So, I’m going to meet with everybody and brainstorm some new locations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a lengthy meeting I have come up with a solution to our location problem. My friend has a cool house, and he has agreed to let me do the photoshoot there. The basement has a large area with a pool table, which has a lot of potential. The crew and I have decided to go there next Sunday and check it out, to brainstorm potential compositions and angles for the shoot. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
